Nawaz Sharif demands formation of national commission to probe into treason allegations
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif called for a national commission to probe treason allegations against him for giving a controversial statement on Mumbai attacks.
Addressing a public meeting at Buner in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nawaz Sharif said, "I will face the commission and those who are leveling allegations must also face the commission. Whichever party is found guilty, it should be hanged publicly."
“Nawaz who eliminated terrorism from Pakistan, made the country an atomic power, concealed the Kargil embarrassment, made motorways, ended electricity load shedding, and made Pakistan a hub of peace is being labeled as a traitor today.”
“Is making Pakistan an atomic power treason or patriotism?”
“Those who serve you sincerely, day and night, are being accused of treason.”
He strongly opposed the allegations against him and stressed that the nation must work with him to bring an end to such incidents.
“Now they are accusing me of sending $5 billion to India. I challenge National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to prove this claim, the chairman must resign. We will not allow him to flee with such allegations at hand,” he criticised the national corruption watchdog.
Lamenting the state of affairs in Buner, Nawaz said nothing had changed in Mardan or Buner despite the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s claims of bringing about a ‘naya Pakistan’.
Imran Khan
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan presented four-point demand regarding deposed premier Nawaz Sharif’s recent statement with respect to Pakistan’s ‘role’ in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
During a press conference, Imran demanded that Nawaz Sharif should be put on the Exit Control List (ECL).
Secondly, he said Nawaz Sharif violated his oath as an ex-prime minister and should be proceeded against under Article 6 (high treason) of the Constitution. “He inflicted the national interests of Pakistan,” Imran added.
Third demand of Imran Khan was to initiate an investigation into the business relations of Nawaz’s sons’ with India.
“Shahbaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan should resign,” was the fourth demand of Imran Khan.
