"Perfectly executed strike last night. Mission Accomplished", says Donald Trump

Following the airstrikes on the precise targets in Syria, the US President Donald Trump has termed it as "Mission Accomplished".

Mr. Trump in his tweet stated: "A perfectly executed strike last night. Thank you to France and the United Kingdom for their wisdom and the power of their fine Military. Could not have had a better result. Mission Accomplished!"
The US Vice President Mike Pence said, "We went into this effort absolutely confident that the Syrian regime had conducted the attack, had used chemical weapons on innocent civilians."
US State Department's Spokesperson Heather Nauert said the United Kingdom, France, and the United States acted, after careful evaluation, to deter the future use of chemical weapons by holding the Syria regime responsible for its atrocities against humanity.

Ms. Nauert said, "We will continue our commitment to the UN-led Geneva process for a political resolution to this conflict that respects the will of the Syrian people. The use of chemical weapons anywhere in the world is an inexcusable violation of international law, and the United States will not tolerate it."

The spokesperson said Americans are united in condemning Syria’s inexcusable use of chemical weapons on its own people. "We thank our allies, the United Kingdom and France, for their solidarity to cripple the Assad regime’s ability to use these illegal weapons in the future."
The United States Ambassador to United Nations Nikki Haley told the Security Council's meeting, "Last night, we successfully hit the heart of Syria’s chemical weapons enterprise... We are prepared to sustain this pressure, if the Syrian regime is foolish enough to test our will."

said, "Our Syria strategy has not changed, but the Syrian regime’s actions have forced us to take action. Chemical weapons are a threat to us all."
She said, "The United States is deeply grateful to the United Kingdom and France for their part in the coalition to defend the prohibition on chemical weapons. Last night, our great friends and indispensable allies shouldered a burden that benefits all of us."

The Pentagon's Chief Spokesperson Dana W. White at a news conference said, "These strikes were a justified, legitimate and proportionate response to the Syrian government's continued use of chemical weapons on its own people."

She said the use of chemical weapons anywhere in the world is an inexcusable violation of international law and the United States will not tolerate it.

The North Atlantic Council today expressed full support for last night’s actions in Syria. Chemical weapons cannot be used with impunity and cannot be normalized.
Impact of attack

The RT news said a scientific facility in Barzeh, north of Damascus, has been targeted during the US-led airstrikes overnight. Footage from the scene shows the building has sustained heavy damage.

The Center for Scientific Research partially collapsed after reportedly being hit by several missiles during the attack. No one was injured during the strike, according to Syrian state media.

It remains unclear whether the facility was, in fact, operational in the first place, however. Despite this, the Pentagon claimed that the attack on this facility “crippled” what they referred to as a Syrian chemical weapons program.
