Court issues arrest warrant for Khadim Hussain Rizvi in Faizabad protest case

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday issued arrest warrants of fugitive suspects Khadim Hussain Rizvi and others in Faizabad sit-in- case.

ATC Judge Shahrukh Arjumand issued arrest warrants in five cases regarding the Islamabad protests that were registered in the I-9 police station after Rizvi and other suspects refused to appear in court for the hearing.

The court stated that if the accused failed to appear before the court within the next 30 days starting from then onwards, they will be announced as “proclaimed offenders”.

The Faizabad sit-in by the religious parties protesting at Faizabad Interchange against the government on the amendment in the Elections Act 2017, held the capital still for three weeks in November last year. The three-weeks protest ended with the reversal of the amendment and with the resignation of the Law Minister, Zahid Hamid.
