NRO case: Top court summons foreign asset details from Musharraf, Zardari

Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday has summoned details of former presidents Pervez Musharraf and Asif Ali Zaradri’s foreign assets in National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) case.

A three member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar conducted hearing against those who took benefit from NRO.

Asset details of former Attorney General Malik Qayyum were also sought. The court said if the respondents have offshore companies, they should also declare them.

CJP observed that SC should be taken into confidence regarding the ownership of foreign bank accounts.

Meanwhile, Musharraf’s lawyer Akhtar Shah asked to give two-week extension so that he can file his reply.

The bench has now adjourned the hearing of the case till 7th of next month - after expiration of amnesty scheme.
