Presidential election: All set for smooth electoral process at PA
All necessary arrangements have been
made for smooth electoral process at Punjab Assembly for Presidential
election being held on Tuesday.
Chief Justice Lahore High Court Yawar
Ali will perform Returning Officer's duty while six officers including
Registrar Lahore High Court will assist him as Polling Officers.
A detailed directions-notice has been pasted at Punjab Assembly building to guide members about the whole electoral process.
Two polling booths will be established to facilitate three hundred fifty four MPAs to cast their votes.
Final list of candidates for presidential elections issued
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday published the final list of candidates for the presidential election.
As
per the final list, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Dr Arif Alvi, Pakistan
Peoples Party's (PPP) Aitzaz Ahsan and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F)
chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman are in the run for the presidential
election to be held on September 4.
A
day earlier, the ECP accepted nomination papers of four candidates out
of the 12 that had submitted them. However, Fazl's covering candidate
Amir Muqam withdrew from the run today.
The
deadline for candidates vying for the office of the country’s president
to withdraw their candidature ended at noon on Aug 30. Muqam was the only
one who withdrew from the presidential contest.
