We will free Karachi from ‘Mustaqil Qaumi Musibat’, says Bilawal Bhutto Zardari
Pakistan Peoples' Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called MQM as Mustaqil Quami Musibat and said his party would free Karachi from its clutches.
Addressing the rally at F.C. Area in Liaquatabad, supposed to be the stronghold of the rival MQM, Bilawal said his party had freed the people of the port city from London wala and now it will liberate the residents from the clutches of every faction of Mustaqil Qaumi Museebat (infinite national calamity), referring to MQM and its founder Altaf Hussain.
"We were against the politics of MQM-founder from day one. How could those who couldn't be loyal to their leaders be loyal to you? They may have parted ways with him but they are still pursuing his political stance."
The PPP co-chief continued that during former president Pervaiz Musharraf’s era, the MQM governed as “a mafia” and did not take necessary steps for the development of the city.
He said mandate of Karachiites was seized at gunpoint. He claimed that the Karachi Operation was in fact launched by the PPP while the PML-N wrongfully tried to take its credit.
The PPP chairman blamed the MQM for the dismal situation Karachi was in with regards to cleanliness and water and power shortage. “MQM leaders don’t want to see a clean city because their politics is based on these issues … how can those who can’t unite over the issue of garbage cleaning, will be united over bigger issues,” he added.
Stating that Karachi was his home, he said his party was not ready to tolerate lawlessness in the city.
Turning the barrel towards Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Bilawal said Imran was pursuing the politics of hate introduced by the MQM leader.
"Imran and the MQM founder, both, are a reflection of one another. Karachi was controlled by London and now Imran is planning to run the affairs of Karachi from his residence in Bani Gala," he said.
Advising deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif, the PPP chief said no one can be respected only by chanting ‘sanctity of vote’. “He [Nawaz] would only get respect by respecting laborers, women, minorities, law and constitution, parliament and the masses,” he added.
Several PPP leaders including Sherry Rehman, Murad Ali Shah, Raza Rabbani, Syed Qaim Ali Shah and others also addressed the rally.
