The decision was taken by NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal during the executive board meeting (EBM) of the bureau.
On February 9, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had redefined NAB’s powers, allowing the bureau to investigate ex-military men, especially retired generals, and directed it to investigate Musharraf for his alleged corruption while holding his office.
In a 28-point statement, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) said probes would be launched against scores including sitting ministers and top bureaucrats.
NAB chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal, also ordered investigations against various current and former officials, including Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Moonis Elahi and PTI leader Aleem Khan for owning offshore companies; and President Bank of Punjab Naeemud Din Khan, for having assets beyond means.
Besides, the NAB also approved an inquiry against PHA Foundation managing director.
Housing Minister Akram Durrani and others are accused of allotting plots, which were reserved to build mosques in Islamabad, to blue-eyed people.
Another inquiry against Bank of Punjab president and others was approved for allegedly changing prices of shares.
The bureau also approved an inquiry against C&W Chief Mechanical Engineer Adnan Shafi and others. They are accused of purchasing 1,405 hooper wagons to transfer coal.
An inquiry against Jahangir Siddiqui was approved as well.
However, the NAB’s executive board, during the meeting, ordered the closure of inquiries against Balochistan health officials and the officers of National Bank of Pakistan’s Bahrain branch, and others.
