Four injured in YouTube shooting incident; woman believed to be shooter found dead

An unidentified woman is found dead after allegedly wounding four Tuesday in a shooting rampage at YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, California.

The victims included a 36-year-old man in critical condition, a 32-year-old woman in serious condition and a 27-year-old woman in fair condition at San Francisco General Hospital, officials said.

Witnesses told KTVU-TV that the suspect shot her boyfriend before killing herself, but police would not confirm identities or a possible motive. Investigators said the incident did not appear to be terrorism, the Los Angeles Times reported.

However, the social media was flooded with hoaxes and the TV channels were commenting on the suspected woman attacker as she was involved in "love triangle".

As the news broke Tuesday afternoon, CNN filled airtime by speculating that “perhaps a love triangle” was a potential motive of the woman who was reported to have carried out the attack.
Reuters reported that as the shooting unfolded at YouTube’s campus in San Bruno, California, hoaxes and other misinformation began spreading on Twitter. BuzzFeed reporter Jane Lytvynenko was reporting on the false news being disseminated on Twitter when she discovered that she herself had been identified as the shooter.

Reacting to the onslaught of misinformation, Lytvynenko, who reports on fake news for BuzzFeed, said, “I have never seen this many hoaxes flood in this quickly. They just keep coming.”
In response to the shooting, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki tweeted, "There are no words to describe how horrible it was to have an active shooter @YouTube today."
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey tweeted the social media platform was “tracking, learning, and taking action” as misinformation trailed reports that a shooter had opened fire on YouTube employees in San Bruno, California.
