Plane crashes at Nepal's Kathmandu airport, death toll reaches to 49
A passenger plane crashed at Kathmandu airport while it was landing on the runway.
"There were 67 passengers and 4 crew members" aboard the plane, said airport spokesman Prem Nath Thakur.
According to officials, the death toll have reached to 49 passengers, and remaining are in hospitals, many of them critical.
The plane was travelling from Dhaka. The aircraft S2-AGU careened off the runway during landing at 2:20 pm and crashed onto the football ground near TIA, Kathmandu Post newspaper quoted Thakur as saying.
Pictures showed a massive plume of smoke rising from the ground after the plane crashed into a football pitch near the airport.
