66 people on board killed in a plane crash in Iran

Iranian plane with 66 people on board crashed near the city of Semirom in the Isfahan Province of Iran, according to Tasnim news agency citing Iran's emergency center. The 20-year-old ATR plane had disappeared from radars on Sunday morning 50 minutes after taking off from Mehrabad Airport.
Semirom is located about 80 km north from Yasuj, the capital of the south-western Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province.

According to Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the plane was carrying 66 people, including six crew.
Foggy weather has hampered aerial rescue efforts in the Padena mountainous area, where the crash is believed to have happened, officials said.
