Election 2018: Polling to elect NA, four Provincial Assemblies underway
The polling, which started at eight in the morning, will continue till six in the evening without any break.
It is a public holiday today so that the people could exercise their right to vote conveniently.
Out of 272 National Assembly seats, election is being held on 270 seats, while election on two National Assembly constituencies has been postponed.
As for the four Provincial Assemblies, election is taking place on 570 seats against the total 577 seats.
Over 12,500 candidates are in the run for National and Provincial Assemblies. According to the electoral rolls, 105.96 million voters are eligible to cast vote. Of them, 59.22 million are male and 46.73 million are females.
In all, 85,307 polling stations have been set up across the country. Over twenty thousand polling stations have been declared sensitive and CCTV cameras have been installed inside and outside these polling stations.
Four hundred and fifty thousand Police and three hundred and seventy thousand Army personnel have been deployed to ensure law and order today.
