Mohammad Amin Ansari, the father of an eight-year-old Zainab Ansari has decided to sue the local TV channel that recently announced to produce a telefilm named ‘Zainab Ke Qatil’.
Speaking to a news outlet, Ameen has said that he was going to sue the channel for making a film about Zainab and not allow anyone to use her name for their ‘vested interests.’ He may also be taking action against an NGO who had been using his late daughter’s name for the same purpose.
Recently, a local TV channel announced to make a telefilm based on the adaptation of Zainab Ansari’ rape and murder incident. A news outlet said the channel was going to depict ‘exactly’ what happened to Zainab with the purpose of creating awareness.
The telefilm that is currently under-production and is titled ‘Zainab Ke Qatil’. The famous novelist, Umera Ahmed has written the script for the telefilm. She also penned the dialogues of the highly popular drama serial ‘Baaghi’ that was based on the life of the slain internet sensation, Qandeel Baloch.
There has been no statement from the said channel about Zainab Ke Qatil so far and it remains to be seen if the telefilm will be aired or not.
A human rights activist Khadija Siddiqi expressed concern over the channel's apathy for not seeking consent from the victim's family.
Sensationalism. To top it up there was no consent taken from Zainabs parents before making this film. Horrendous Ways to capitalize on a serious sensitive issue that is still fresh in everyone’s consciousness. Cant imagine the anguish her parents have to relive. #Zainab pic.twitter.com/Zm85EZyXRd— khadija siddiqi (@khadeeeej751) May 8, 2018
