Pakistan, India agree to restore ceasefire along Line of Control
Pakistan’s director general of military operation established a hotline contact with his Indian counterpart on Tuesday and discussed border situation along the Line of Control (LoC).
A special hotline contact was established between military officers of Pakistan and India, ISPR reported, said the local media.
“Both DGs MO reviewed the prevailing situation along the line of control and working boundary and mutually agreed to undertake sincere measures to improve the existing situation ensuring peace and avoidance of hardships to the civilians along the borders,” it said.
It was also agreed upon that in case of any issue, restraint will be exercised and the matter will be resolved through utilization of existing mechanisms of hotline contacts and border flag meetings at local commander's level.
A number of cases of LOC violations by India have been reported by the Pakistan Army.
Some sources said the two sides were discussing the possibility of ceasefire through back channels and the telephonic contact between the DGMOs was just a formality.
The development came as the five-year tenure of the PML-N government is set to complete on Thursday.
