Moon sighted in Pakistan, fasting month will begin from Thursday
The holy month of Ramazan will begin in Pakistan from Thursday, Chairman of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman announced today.
The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Munibur Rehman after chairing a meeting in Karachi on Wednesday evening.
The moon was sighted in various parts of the country, including Lower Dir, Buner, Nathiagali, Abbottabad, Quetta, among others.
the Met Office had forecasted ‘fair chance’ of sighting the moon. Earlier this month, it had announced, “According to astronomical parameters, there is Fair Chance of sighting the new moon of Ramzan, 1439 AH on the evening of 16-05-2018 i.e. on 29th of Shaban, 1439 AH.”
Ramazan in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and elsewhere across the globe will begin on Thursday as the moon was not sighted there on Tuesday evening.
Muslims in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Oman, Kuwait, Iraq, Iran, Palestine, the United Kingdom, Australia and Japan will also begin the holy month form Thursday.
After a long time, the Muslim world including Pakistan will start fasting from the same day.
