At least eight people were killed in a suicide attack on a government building in Jalalabad, the city of eastern Afghanistan.

Locals and witnesses said that some seven to eight terrorists stormed into the finance department building in Nangarhar province's capital. Two of them went inside and blew themselves up while their another accomplice detonated himself at the entrance.

Following the blasts, other militants started firing with automatic weapons and fired the rockets as well. The Afghan forces retaliated the gun fires which continued for several hours.

Officials later said that eight people including three employees of the Finance Department were killed in the attack. An official told the Afghan media that all four attackers were killed in gun battle.

No group has claimed the responsibility for the attack. However, some unconfirmed reports suggest that ISIS Iraq had claimed the responsibility.

Earlier this month, at least 13 people have been killed and some 30 others wounded in an explosion at a mosque in eastern Khost Province

Last month, a suicide bombing outside a voter-registration center in the Afghan capital, Kabul, has killed at least 57 people and wounded 119.
