Four members of Christian family among nine gunned down in Quetta

Four of Christian family members among nine were shot dead in Balochistan, police said.

According to the local police, armed men intercepted a rickshaw and opened indiscriminate fire in Quetta. As a result, four people were killed and a woman was wounded. 

The sources said that the woman was rushed to a hospital where it was revealed that her father was among the dead. 

The attack comes a day after Pakistan’s Christian community celebrated Easter on Sunday. 

Earlier in the day, a van, traveling from Khajoori area of Machh to Quetta was intercepted by a group of people and the two parties entered an argument that led to gunfire.

The incident claimed the life of a levies personnel named Naveed and locals named Abdul Hameed, Ghulam Rasool, and Bashir. The gunfire injured as many as five persons in the van.

Police reached the spot and shifted the bodies and the wounded to hospitals.

Following the incident, a local named Muhammad Azam was gunned down on Sibbi Road prompting police to launch a search operation.
