Decision on bail application reserved; Salman Khan to spend another night in jail
The decision on Salman Khan’s bail application has been
reserved for tomorrow by an Indian court and he has to stay in jail for another
night.
District and Sessions Court Judge Ravindra Kumar Joshi
told the media that he has reserved the judgment till April 7, which means,
Salman Khan will have to spend yet another night in prison.
Jail superintendent Vikram Singh, while briefing the media
on the celebrity inmate, said Khan would be treated as a normal prisoner and no
special treatment would be given to him.
He has been given a simple wooden bed, a rug and a cooler in
his cell, Singh said. "He (Khan) was given normal jail diet like
dal-chapatti and the morning meal will include simple khichdi," he said.
According to reports in the Indian media, the jail where
Salman was being held was under heavy security. He also spent the night alone
in the cell and nobody was allowed to meet him.
Pronouncing the verdict in the 20-year-old case, another
court in Jodhpur had on Thursday convicted the actor and sentenced him to fiveyears in jail. The other co-accused in the case -- Tabu, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali
Bendre, Neelam -- meanwhile, were cleared of all charges. Additonally, a
penalty of Rs 10,000 was also imposed on Khan.
Salman Khan has been accused of killing rare blackbuck in
the Kankani village near Jodhpur in 1998 during the shooting of the film Hum
Saath Saath Hain.
