"Adiala Jail is being prepared for a special guest", says Nawaz Sharif
Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday expressed fears that Adiala Jail was already being prepared for a “special guest”, ostensibly referring to himself.
Nawaz, flanked by his daughter Maryam Nawaz, made the remarks after appearing before an accountability court in Islamabad in a reference concerning his family's Avenfield properties.
He went on to claim that the accountability court was given six months [by the Supreme Court] not to complete the trial but send him to jail.
"You know that the facts that went in our favor were [deliberately] hidden by the JIT," he alleged. "You already know what has come out of Wajid Zia's mouth and, in a way, he has given us a certificate [of innocence]," he further claimed.
Lauding his brother, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, days after the ruling party witnessed the defection of eight lawmakers from south Punjab, Nawaz said the chief executive of the province had worked tirelessly for the region. He added that those who talk of a new province in south Punjab left for reasons beyond the creation of a new administrative area.
Answering a question pertaining to disgruntled party leader Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, the former premier said that everyone knows about Nisar.
Nawaz further said that candidates contesting in next general elections should not be under NAB’s pressure. “I have talked with Prime Minister Abbasi to make NAB law ineffective during interim government’s tenure,” he said.
Imran Khan
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday while addressing a ceremony at Peshawar chief minister house said "Nawaz Sharif is not being pushed into a narrow-alley. He is on his way to Adiala jail and PTI will form the government in the general elections 2018."
Imran further said that he will hold a meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and that he will request the army chief to reduce check posts in FATA. The PTI chief added that he will also raise the issue of missing persons when he meets Gen Bajwa.
