Pakistan Day celebrated with zeal and fervor across the country
A joint military parade was held at Parade Ground in Islamabad in connection with Pakistan Day celebrations on Friday.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran. President Mamnoon Hussain observed the parade from a jeep. A fly-past of fighter jets including JF-16s, JF 17s, Mirages, AWACs, C-130s and P-3C Orion aircraft of Pakistan Air Force led by Air Chief Mujahid Anwar Khan presented the tribute to the president.
Contingents of Pakistan Army, Navy, Pakistan Air Force, Special Services Groups, Frontier Corps, Rangers, Islamabad police, Nursing officers, Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, marched past the dais presenting the salute to the chief guest and the guest of honor.
UAE troops and a Jordanian band also participated in the parade.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Defence Minister Khurrum Dastgir, Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee Zubair Mehmood Hayat and other civil and military top brass also marked their presence at the ceremony.
The ceremony was witnessed by Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Defense Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan, all three services chiefs and Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and other senior civil and military officials.
The parade culminated with the presentation of a special song with the theme 'Amn ka Nishan, Yeh Hamara Pakistan'.
