After two in Rawalpindi, another captain of ride-hailing service killed in Karachi
Following the murders of two captains of a ride-hailing service in Rawalpindi, another captain of was gunned down in Karachi.
Police said that a bullet-riddled body of Shahnawaz, 50, was found in his car near Nagan Chowrangi. He later turned out to be captain of Uber.
A senior police officer Dr Rizwan told the media that the preliminary investigation suggested no indication of robbery. However, personal enmity could not be ruled out.
He said three shots were fired from point blank range at Shahnawaz using a 9 mm pistol. The deceased is also stated to be a former employee of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
Earlier in February, a captain of Careem was shot dead in Rawalpindi. Police claimed to have arrested his killer, identified as Ataullah.
According to police investigation, Ataullah had booked the ride from F-11, Markaz and tried to snatch it at gunpoint in G-13. Junaid resisted the attempted hijacking that panicked suspect Ataullah who shot Junaid and fled the scene.
Last week, a young captain of Careem, Sajawal Ameer was shot dead in Rawalpindi.
The local police declared the incident as attempted robbery. The victim resisted the robbers who in turn shot him dead. They tried to take away the vehicle but failed as a vehicle tracking system was installed in it.
