Five passengers suffer injuries as plane stairway collapses at Islamabad airport

Five people were injured when the stairway of a passenger plane at Benazir Bhutto International Airport collapsed on Tuesday.

According to airport officials the plane, belonging to Emirates airline, was departing for Dubai when the incident took place.

Airport officials said the lifter, used to carry disabled passengers aboard a plane, overturned while transporting passengers into the aircraft.

As a result, the passengers fell on the runway and got injured. They were shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital for medical attention.

The overturning of the lifter also caused slight damage to the plane’s left engine. The aircraft, belonging to Emirates Airlines, was to take off for Dubai.
